Prior to joining CareTinuum, Carol was with UnityPoint Health for 44 years, first joining the St. Luke’s Hospital lab team in Cedar Rapids as a Medical Technologist in 1978. She then spent 10 years as a chemistry instructor for the Medical Laboratory Science program at St. Luke’s, followed by 10 years as the Laboratory Support Services Supervisor, where she managed a variety of areas including phlebotomy, drug testing and compliance.

After a year outside of the lab as Charge Capture Coordinator, she returned to serve as Director of Laboratory Management and Director of Laboratory Services for the 18 hospitals in the UnityPoint System for more than a decade and also served as the executive sponsor for the Laboratory/Pathology Clinical Service Group, working closely with this team to advance the level of laboratory quality across UnityPoint Health’s continuum of care.

In her role she worked closely with all lab directors across the system on projects, including standardization of equipment, testing procedures, diagnostic optimization, and workflow improvement, etc.
